Who’s that girl?
A creative, curious storyteller living in San José, California.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, I picked up everything and moved in 2005 to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. While studying journalism at The University of Alabama, I was news editor for The Crimson White, spent a semester learning Spanish in Chile, fell in love with Southern food (fried okra, mac ‘n’ cheese—oh man), and even managed to recruit my three sisters to the Deep South.
I learned more about that corner of the country—its lush, vibrant beauty and its dark, marred history—than I ever had before. Alabama is where I learned to be a storyteller. And though I’ve returned to California, the South remains a permanent influence in my work.
My career has taken me from writing about farmers and food for The Anniston Star to discovering hidden gems for the travel magazine Lookout Alabama. I gave the scoop on seaside trends for Coastal Living, then became a party-planning expert for Celebrate magazine.
When I ventured into higher education writing, I got to dive deep into topics like Alabama health care, student entrepreneurship, and the lasting impact of philanthropy. Today, I write news articles and feature stories about science, research, and innovation for San José State University.
My family is everything, I’m obsessed with my dog, I love travel and food adventures, and there’s always a good book on my nightstand. I also love learning new things: I’m currently building my repertoire of personal creative nonfiction.
No matter where you’re located, let’s talk about how I can lend my creativity to the story you want to tell.
